UNITE

“It’s like we're on the edge of a crescent moon and each of us are stars about to fly off the edge.” This is a statement I made during a late night, somewhat delusional conversation after the last UNITE session. While I said this in a slightly delusional state, the meaning is not quite all that delusional.

UNITE is a church youth group conference that I have attended for three years and is always deeply impactful. The main theme this year was “Redeem the Moment,” and over the last several weeks I've been spontaneously hearing a lot about moments, influence, and finding my mission statement. Also, with this being my senior year, I immediately soaked up every word and scribbled many notes. Some of the nuggets of wisdom I recorded are in the following: “Because of Jesus, I’m on the greatest journey of my life,” “Own the moment to give God my very best,” and “Authentic ambassador.” But the most life changing moment of UNITE was the moment I wrote my mission statement. It was one of those moments when I didn’t have to think to write, I just let my heart write what the Holy Spirit was telling me and this was the written realization

“Letting go of the future and learning from the past in order to love God and love others in the present moment without fear, doubt, or worry.”

I think the main reason I love the moon and stars so much is because they have no worries about the future. They know that no matter what their path is set in front of them and that it’s the perfect path. I pray that when I fly off my crescent moon, I live each moment “without fear, doubt, or worry.” I pray that each of us close our eyes and leap with open arms into the future with faith as our foresight and constant companion because there’s simply too much to miss in the present if we’re constantly in the future.

Isaiah 40:26 (NASB) "Lift up your eyes on high

And see who has created these stars,

The One who leads forth their host by number,

He calls them all by name;

Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,

Not one of them is missing

Paradigm - an outstandingly clear or typical example of archetype
